On Entropy and Extensions of Posets

چکیده
A vast body of literature in combinatorics and computer science aims at understanding the structural properties of a poset P implied by placing certain marginal constraints on the uniform distribution over linear extensions of P . These questions are typically concerned with whether or not P must be a total order (or have small width). Here, we instead consider whether or not these marginal constraints imply a non-trivial bound on the entropy of the uniform distribution (over the set of linear extensions of P ). We prove such a result and establish that local bounds do indeed yield global bounds. ∗This research was supported in part by an NSF Computing and Innovation Fellowship.

The concept of logic entropy on D-posets
In this paper, a new invariant called {it logic entropy} for dynamical systems on a D-poset is introduced. Also, the {it conditional logical entropy} is defined and then some of its properties are studied. The invariance of the {it logic entropy} of a system under isomorphism is proved. At the end, the notion of an $ m $-generator of a dynamical system is introduced and a version of the Kolm...
متن کاملEntropy of infinite systems and transformations
The Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy is a far reaching dynamical generalization of Shannon entropy of information systems. This entropy works perfectly for probability measure preserving (p.m.p.) transformations. However, it is not useful when there is no finite invariant measure. There are certain successful extensions of the notion of entropy to infinite measure spaces, or transformations with ...
متن کاملEntropic Uniform Sampling of Linear Extensions in Series-Parallel Posets
In this paper, we introduce a uniform random sampler for linear extensions of Series-Parallel posets. The algorithms we present ensure an essential property of random generation algorithms: entropy. They are in a sense optimal in their consumption of random bits.
متن کاملSome properties of the parametric relative operator entropy
The notion of entropy was introduced by Clausius in 1850, and some of the main steps towards the consolidation of the concept were taken by Boltzmann and Gibbs. Since then several extensions and reformulations have been developed in various disciplines with motivations and applications in different subjects, such as statistical mechanics, information theory, and dynamical systems. Fujii and Kam...
متن کاملA NEW CHARACTERIZATION OF ABSOLUTELY PO-PURE AND ABSOLUTELY PURE S-POSETS
In this paper, we investigate po-purity using finitely presented S-posets, and give some equivalent conditions under which an S-poset is absolutely po-pure. We also introduce strongly finitely presented S-posets to characterize absolutely pure S-posets. Similar to the acts, every finitely presented cyclic S-posets is isomorphic to a factor S-poset of a pomonoid S by a finitely generated right con...
